Facts of Holi Festival




Holi is the "Festival of Colours". This is the festival of Hindu religion. Holi is considered as one of the most celebrated festivals of India and it is celebrated in almost every part of the country. So today we will see some Facts of Holi festivals.




1. The word Holi was derived from the word “Holika”, She was the sister  of King  Hiranyakashipu

2. Holi is celebrated on the victory of Good over Evil and Holi is celebrated on the following day after Holika was burned in bonfire.

3. Holi is celebrated after the full moon in the month of ‘Phalgun’ which falls generally between the month of February and March. The exact date of the festival is determined by the Hindu Calendar. Holi  is the mark the passing of winter season and beginning of spring season.

4. It is a national festival celebrated across all the 29 states of India and 8 union territories.

5. The festival is being welcomed all over  the world in many forms and people find great satisfaction celebrating it with their friends and family.

6. The festival starts on the night before Holi where people gather and start a bonfire. The bonfire is lit up at midnight. Many peoples gathers there to watch the bonfire. This Bonfire is done in all over the India also in many parts of the world.

7. The second day of the festival of Holi which is the main day when people play with wet and dry colors. People use to colour to each other and hug them. Children are who use lot of colours to play with their friends. hey generally use can drown each other in colours, use spray gun, water balloons and what-nots. Also there are  many children who are afraid of colours.

8. Holi festival is celebrated for at least 16 days in the Brag region of India where Krishna was born.

9. Holi is also popular for the consumption of an Bhang. Bhang is made of cannabis leaves. Also people like to cook many types of sweets in Holi Festival.

10.“Bura Na Mano, Holi He” which means “Don't Mind, It’s Holi.” This quote very famous in all over the India,

11. Holi festival is a day were males are allowed to throw colours and water on girls. 

12. Peoples are generally came together and celebrate the Holi  festival. It  provides a suitable environment to use colours and water.

13. It is one of the festival where many people take it as a occasional festival  which cuts there happiness of boundary by forgeting the previous mistakes.
